The brief

Sabin Consulting Engineers Ltd were appointed by Barry Howard Homes Ltd in order to develop an M&E strategy / scheme design for Hydrogen in Nottingham City Centre.

The project involves the conversion of an existing office building to provide 144 student accommodation units and a small supermarket.

The solution

Sabin Consulting Engineers Ltd attended the site and performed a visual survey of the entire building.

A design review of the systems was undertaken to assess the suitability of the systems.

As a result of the investigation, recommendations and a comprehensive strategy was provided detailing the M&E alterations and installations required in order to facilitate the conversion of the building to student accommodation.

The scheme developed included smoke ventilation, fire hydrants, high efficiency heating and hot water, roof mounted photovoltaic panels, LED lighting and emergency generators to serve fireman’s lift within the building.
