The brief

Sabin Consulting Engineers Ltd were appointed by Hickings Lane Medical Practice to act as MEP consultant for a project involving the refurbishment and extension of an existing doctors surgery in Nottingham.

The solution

Sabin Consulting Engineers Ltd attended the site and performed a visual survey of the entire M&E installations.

A design review of the systems was undertaken to assess the suitability of the existing systems.

As a result of the investigation a comprehensive set of drawings and specifications were prepared to define the required scope of works. The existing practice was heated by electrical panel heater units and also had electric water heaters. It was recommended that the practice should utilise a new gas supply from the local utilities to serve the heating and provide hot water. This change will result in a significant reduction in carbon emissions and will achieve a running cost saving for the practice.
