The brief
Sabin Consulting Engineers Ltd were appointed by Burbage Surgery to act as MEP consultants for a project involving a complete refurbishment of an existing doctors surgery including a major extension.
The scheme design included consideration of two phases to enable the medical practice to remain open throughout the project the project.
The solution
Sabin Consulting Engineers Ltd attended the site and performed a visual survey of the entire M&E installations. A design review of the systems was undertaken to assess the suitability of the systems. As a result of the investigation a comprehensive set of drawings and specifications were prepared to define the required scope of works.
The new mechanical and electrical services solution included centralised plant with all services divided and split through the building to enable the installation works to be undertaken in two clear phases. The phasing concept enabling the existing surgery to remain open during the construction of the new extension and then allow the new extension to operate independently whilst the existing areas are fully refurbished/remodelled. The services included high efficiency LPHW heating installations and solar photovoltaic installations.
